Dragon Tales dream.

Totally had a dream in cartoon last night, which was awesome. Although, it happened to be in the format of Dragon Tales, which is probably one of the saddest cartoons for my brain to choose. Oh well though. It was still pretty sweet. I’ve never had a dream in cartoon before. Dragon Tales is this cartoon on OPB where this girl named Emmy and her brother Max find this magical dragon scale in their house that transports them to Dragon Land where they have a bunch of dragon friends and they have adventures and stuff.

So in my dream, I was Emmy and there was a bunch of stuff that happened before, but the only part that I remember was that this crazy bum and his wife tried to steal my red car. I was with my dad, and we had just finished re-parking all three of our cars in a line in front of the opposite side of our house that we usually do. Then, when our weird job was done, he went inside and I went in the garage. I think I must have forgot something in the car becaue I went back outside and I saw this bum lady and her man throwing the last of their Safeway bags of stuff in the back seat of my car. I’m pretty sure they weren’t in cartoon though… So I grabbed one of their bags through the window and bashed the bum lady in the head with it. It happened to have one of those tins of Planters mixed nuts in it and she screamed at me, “You’re bashing me in the head with my Planters Mixed Nuts!” And I was like, “Well you’re trying to steal my car, bum.” And I kept on bashing her. Eventually she got out of the car and put on these weird, square shaped boxing gloves and tried to punch me so I ran. I ran down this club for little cartoon kids by the beach and lost the crazy bum in there. When I ran out of the kiddie club, I happened to be in black ninja clothes. Haha. And I met Max from Dragontales and we walked back to my house. When I woke up, I definitely had the Dragon Tales theme song in my head.

Basically it was a really weird dream. But I was a fan.

End of sophomore year!

So I was getting ready to study for my finals today and I realized that I never wrote about my spring term classes! And in order to avoid studying for my finals, I decided to write all about them now.

This term has been my favorite term since last year, in which all three terms were tied for my favorite. I'm not sure whether to rank this term as better than last year or not, but I think I'm leaning towards the latter. My whole of last year's classes were amazing and unmarred by the tragedy of physics and other things.

I took organic chemistry lab, cell and molecular biology, intro to poetry and evolution of people, technology and society. Only 15 credits. Yes! And they were all after eleven o'clock! It was quite nice, especially because I loved all my classes, with the exception of intro to poetry. Poetry is one of my only three hates in life (Physics, poetry and ants. In that order) and I only took this class because I knew it would be extremely easy. And it was. There was only a midterm and a final and both were short essays (one page per poem double spaced). This was quite amazing, as it allowed me to devote time to my more important and far more interesting classes. My teacher was from Israel too and he had a really cute Hebrew accent. I thought he was pretty good looking as well, which was an added bonus to this class that I did not foresee...

Basically my favorite class this term was organic chemistry lab. Yay! There were 2 hour and a half lectures a week and 1 four hour lab. It sounds like a lot, but it really wasn't. I usually enjoy labs more than the actual classes they're for and this class was no exception. My lab was at eight in the morning, but I always looked forward to it, even though it was so early. And a lot of work. In order to participate in the lab, we had to come to class with a completed prelab. Now these prelabs usually took me about two hours to complete. We had to copy down the whole laboratory procedure into our lab notebooks in addition to making a bunch of extra charts and tables and adding background information. This part kind of sucked, but it was worth it. And our professor actually came to labs and demonstrated every step and talked to us and helped us, which I thought was super cool. Another plus was that I took it with one of my sciency friends. I might not have liked this class as much if he wasn't in it. But all in all, favorite class ever! I'm going to try really hard for this final. I'm aiming for 100%, but I'd be happy with a 95% I guess in the worst case scenario.

Cell Bio. Also a fun class and the textbook for it was the prettiest one I've ever seen. It had all these pretty bright colors and abstract cartoonish pictures of cells and cell parts. It also had cool swirls and dots and stuff. It was so cool! And it came with this cd that I only recently started using that had these chapter quizzes and movies on it which were also really cool. When you clicked on an answer for the quizzes it made this really satisfying clicking sound. I don't even know how to describe this properly, but I actually took all the quizzes in order to hear it. Yeah, I'm kind of nerdy, but I really liked that sound. I watched all the movies too... Haha. But the class was also really cool. I realy liked my teacher and I learned a lot of things about cells. I'm probably never going to use any of the information that I learned in my actual real job that I'll get one day, but I guess it's cool to know stuff like this. I can pull cell communication pathways and cancer mechanisms out at cocktail parties and stuff.

Lastly, my evolution of people, technology and society class... I took a class from this same professor last term as well and knew coming into this class that he was prone to telling personal stories and going off on tangents, but still, I learned a lot from this class. I might even want to go into some kind of evolutionary human paleontology one day or something. And yeah, I thought this class was that cool. We learned about all our human ancestors and went into human evolution and some of its causes and stuff like that. We didn't really get into the evolution of technology and society, but that's okay. I don't think that stuff is that importat anyways... Bones are way cooler. Not going to lie. I think it would be really fun to go out in the desert or somewhere in Siberia and go looking for fossils every day. One of the coolest things I learned in this class is that I could go out into nature and kill a deer or something without any weapon whatsoever. All you have to do is keep running after one animal and it will eventually get so tired that it will stop and you can bash it in the head with a rock and kill it. That's one of thee earliest ways our ancestors hunted. I thought this was super cool. And my techer said that he actually tried it one day with a friend with a deer in some national park in Washington. He did it and it actually worked, but he got a ticket from a game warden for harrassing the wildlife. Haha, I thought that was pretty funny.

So those were my classes this term. All in all they were pretty much amazing.

Chemistry Burn.

Yeah. This happened to my arm on Tuesday morning in my organic chemistry lab. It was basically the easiest lab of the term, but my partner and I somehow had more trouble on this lab than any of the other ones. Basically all we had to do was boil some instant milk, add some acid a couple of times and then remove any chunks that formed. Simple right? Well not for us.

The first time we boiled our milk and added the acid, we ended up cooking it for too long or something because we got an enormous amount of congealed milk chunkage with not enough liquid left over to extract the next substance. We asked our TA what our problem was and he was like. "Hmmm. I don't know what you guys did wrong, but you have to do it again." So that's what we did. However, this is when the most disastrous episode of the day occured, namely my poor burnt arm.

We were successful in the first and second extractions of milk chunkage, but as we were removing the remaining liquid from our hot plate to cool, disaster struck. As I was removing our precious beaker, my partner moved the hotplate and it touched my wrist. Oh no! I kind of screamed and dropped the beaker. It shattered on our lab bench and our precious milk liquid mixture spilled all over. It was terrible. Then, all the TA's and our professor rushed over to make sure we didn't spill anything dangerous like hydrochloric acid or something. (luckily, we had just finished adding some sodium bicarbonate to our liquid, effectively neutralizing the hydrochloric acid that we had previously added...) But needless to say, it was pretty embarrasing. Everyone heard my funny scream and the shatter of our poor beaker. It an especially sad day because we had previously dominated every other lab. But oh well. Nobody's prefect I guess...

So, in the end we were unable to successfully complete the experiment and were forced to use the data of the group directly across from us. That being said, they are not quite as good at doing labs as we are, so I hope they ended up making a good milk liquid mixture. We will find out next week I guess... And I hope I get a really cool scar. I could tell everyone how I got it one day in organic chemistry lab. And it would be amazing.

Lions don't eat rabbits. Come on.

So I was playing Family Feud today on Facebook, and one of the questions it gave me was, "What do lions eat?" Of course, because I know everything about lions, I thought to myself, "Yes! I'm going to kick this question's butt!!" However, this was not to be the case. My zoologic expertise was not enough to win. Not nearly enough. Apparently, lions do not eat zebras, water buffalo, wildebeast, or impala. I got super mad after I got my three strikes and only got one answer two of six answers. It turns out that in addition to gazelle and antelope lions eat deer, bugs, rabbits, and turtles.

Hello! Lions do not eat any of these things!!!! First of all, "rabbits","deer" and "turtles" do not have very high populations in the savannahs of Africa, where real lions live. A real lion would probably never encounter any of these animals in its day to day life. I'm sure if they saw one just standing around, they would try to kill it, but this would probably never happen. Second of all, the bug-filled diet of Simba from the Lion King does not accurately represent the diet of a real lion. Real lions don't eat bugs.

This question made me really mad. Like I actually got pretty upset. It makes me really sad that people actually think lions eat bugs, deer, rabbits and turtles. Oh well though. This question only cheated me out of my Fast money round. No big deal I guess.

Loud Breathers.

I was having a wonderful day today until right about seven minutes before my Cell Bio class started, when Mr. Loud Breather decided to sit down next to me. I was reading my slides before class and the next time I looked up, there he was. Now I sat by him once before during the first week of class and I swore that I would never do so again. I never leave an empty seat next to me if I get to class before this guy. I don't know why I did today, but it was a mistake that I hope to never repeat.

This particular guy is the loudest breather I have ever heard. In my entire life. Period. My jaw literally hurt so bad after class today that I couldn't even move my mouth for like an hour. I clenched my teeth so hard that much. It was ridiculous. And I broke my pencil in half because I was sqeezing it so hard too. I could hardly even concentrate on what my professor was saying. And Cell Bio is one of my favorite classes, so this made me really sad. I tried really hard to ignore the loud breather, but I just couldn't do it. I tried moving my head as far away from him as possible, but that didn't work. I tried moving my body as far away from him as possible (I was basically sitting on top of the person on my other side, but I'm sure they understood - they looked pretty miserable as well), but that didn't work either. I could still hear the breathing. I don't even think my feeble attempt to get away from him made his breathing any less loud, but it made me feel better that I tried to escape it. I even tried breathing loud myself to the pattern of his loud breaths, but that didn't work either because I still couldn't reach the caliber of his nasty loud breathing.

Basically, I was super miserable for 50 whole minutes. Grinding my jaw off, breaking my pencil in half... Oh man. I'm sure I was giving off really annoyed, unhappy vibes too. Oh well though. I was taken advantage of in my one moment of decreased vigilance. And it will never happen again.

Momentous Occassion.

Today marks a very momentous moment in my life. I finally removed my old creepy screen saver from my computer! Now whenever I am away from my screen for more than ten minutes, it shows a nice display of the Norther Lights. Before today, it showed all these creepy pictures of me from my old Youcam days. Whenever I was bored, I would go to Youcam and take weird pictures of my face. I don't know quite how or why I programmed these pictures to appear as my screen saver, but appear they did. And some were really weird. Youcam is a program where you can take pictures of yourself and they get deformed in various ways. I made a photo-collage to demonstrate a small sampling of my strangeness. And this is only some of what pops up on my screen saver too...

You can clearly see that I can no longer have these pictures out for the whole world to see (mainly my new roommate...) To tell the truth, they're a little embarrassing. I felt kind of weird when I would come back to my room after like taking a shower or making food or something, and my wonderful screen saver was playing. I hope my roommate doesn't think I'm a weirdo. Haha, oh man. But now I feel a little better.

4 Hour Chem Lab = Goggle Marks Etched Into My Face For Equivalent Amount of Time.

So today I had my four hour organic chemistry lab. This is actually my favorite class of the week. It does start at eight o'clock in the morning, but still. Favorite class. We get to wear nice smelling, powder-free, latex-free purple gloves and do cool experiments. For four hours! Anyway, today was the first time that I actually utilized all four of my allotted hours. Basically before this, I had always completed my lab work in about three. However I found that the extra hour makes all the difference in terms of the goggle marks. Every week as soon as I finish my work, I go directly to the bathroom and check out the damage. Today was particularly terrible. I don't care if that sounds vain or whatever. All my lab friends do it too... I always feel really awkward leaving that class and walking back to my co-op. It's like a 7 minute walk and I always have to walk past like a bunch of people. It's really bad.

I didn't make any weird mistakes this time though. Last week, I swear, my TA probably thought I was retarded or something. First, I connected my condenser tubing backwards and then some of my glassware got stuck together when I was trying to pull it apart. Apparently, I didn't put enough glycerin on the joint or something. My TA lectured me on this for like three whole minutes. It was terrible. I attribute my lack of awareness that day to not being able to drink coffee in the morning. Obviously it was detrimental to my lab performance. This week however, one of my lab partners kind of screwed up. First, her condenser tubing shot out of the condenser and shot water in our whole group's faces and got our fumehood all wet. Hopefully we didn't inhale any weird carcinogens or anything, so fingers crossed. Then, she put in another piece of condenser tubing and it blew up into this huge bubble thing. It was like there was this big old water balloon stuck on her tubing. It was so weird. And then, she got the wrong sized heating mantle thing and our reaction mixture was taking forever to distill. So then we had to get another one and re-heat up. Oh man... I asked her if she drank any coffee that morning and she said no! She is usually pretty smart too. We made a pact to always drink coffee before chem lab. Always.

All in all, it was a pretty eventful action packed day of lab. I was a fan. And we got another TA helping us instead of the one I had last week. He was much nicer and was a native speaker of English. He was pretty funny too. Also, he was quite cute, which is never a bad thing.

Yay!

Yeah! Alright. So, spring break has just ended and tomorrow I go back to school and I am so excited! The last two terms were basically like death for me. Death and hell. I almost died. Several times actually. But now, Things are definitely looking up. No more stupid physics, no more stupid roommate and fun classes, nice people and cheap coop-style living... Oh man. I'm made right now. This term is going to be freaking amazing. Woohoo.

So today, I walked into my new room and discovered that I am going to be sleeping on a bunk bed. On the top bunk bed, I might add. I'm pretty excited about this actually. Never before have I done this. Also, I I noticed that my ethernet plug-in is super far away from my desk. My dinky little 4 ft long cable was not going to cut it, so my dad and I went to the bookstore and bought a 25 ft long cable. Really long. I taped said cable up and over my walls and over to my computerdora. So now I am officially hooked up to the internet. Yay me.

There is also a shelf right above my bed which I am absolutely certain I will be bumping my head on all the time. This is not okay. Tomorrow I decided that I'm going to find a scewdriver and fix this problem. Hopefully I don't get a concussion or something between now and tomorrow, but I'm going to look on the bright side.

So yeah. That was basically my day today. Pure awesomeness. I woke up, ate breakfast, talked to my familia, packed up all my stuff, ate a cupcake, drove to college, unpacked my stuff, bought my cell bio book, (which I'm really excited about...) wrote this blog and now I am going to explore my new living environment and eat dinner. Oh yeah!

Wow. Haven't done this in a while...

Yeah. So I pretty much decided that I am a loser and need to start this whole blogging thing up again. I had it going pretty well there for a while. Then I guess I just got lazy or something. Not really sure. Oh well though. Main point is I am back! Haha, oh man...

Now I'm going to talk about my week, which was pretty much the suckiest week of my life by the way. I had an archaeology midterm on Monday, a physics midterm on Wednesday, an ochem midterm on Thursday and two major projects due Friday. Basically I almost died. I stayed up all night last night and right now I am kind of shaking. Quite unfortunate really. I'm not used to pulling these all nighters. This was the second one of my whole life. And hopefully the last if I might add. Not really a fan.

But...One good point! I picked my classes for next term and I am so excited! Only 14 credits and no physics!!!!!!! Man, the days of the gpa killer are over. No more C's for me. Ever. So, I'm going to take cell biology, organic chem lab, a poetry class (I hate poetry with a passion, but this is an easy, you can't fail type of class...), and an anthropology class. And none of my classes start before 11! This has never happened to me before. Previously, I have always started my day at 9 (this term at 8 because of stupid-kill-me-I-want-to-die physics). So,I'm pretty happy to get to finally sleep in.

Well, that's it for now. I have to clean my side of my room. It is probably the nastiest it's ever been right now, as a result of me studying too much and not having time to clean. Haha, I have papers everywhere, books everywhere, clothes everywhere. Oh man. It is terrible. Time to fix.

Heater Trouble.

Guess what woke me up this morning? A combination of train and heater. At seven o'clock. Ugh. I wanted to die. Today was supposed to be my nice, relaxing day and I was supposed to sleep in til noon. Unfortunately, this did not come to pass.

I woke up at seven(which is the time I usually get up you see...) and I heard a train go by. I really don't understand why they have to honk their darn horns so many times. But I swear, this train honked its horn like once every ten or fifteen seconds. I was not phased by this train ruckus and was preparing to go back to sleep when I heard... Clunk Clunk Clunk. It was my stupid heater. I tried to go back to sleep, I really did, but just when I thought the clunking and banging was over, it would start up again. It was so annoying and it was making me really, really mad. I finally gave up around nine thirty. The heater won. I hate it.

This year, I have not really had a problem with my heater, until now that is. My roommate and I have it permanently off actually. I don't understand why it is choosing now to bang around all the time. I don't even understand why it makes these stupid noises. It made the occasional clank and bang until this week, but now it's really starting to get going. A few nights ago, it started clanging around ten. It did not stop the whole night. Needless to say, I was slightly grumpy the next morning. This is going to have to stop. I am going to talk to my RA today to see if there is any way to fix this monstrosity that is my heater. If they can't help me, then I am going to rent a screwdriver from them and open up the grate myself to see what is going on down there. A few clanks and bangs every now and then does not bother me. It is just the incessant noise that does and it is not acceptable.

First Test of the Term

So, tonight I had my first test of the term. Can you guess what it was? Yeah. That's right... Physics. Death, I swear. But anyways, it was terrible in several ways. First of all, I had to walk a long way to get to the location of said test. Of course, it had to be way on the other side of campus. So, once I got there, I discovered that my test proctor was a girl. Last term, I had the hottest guy TA ever proctoring my exams. It was wonderful. Since I am so bad at physics, I spent a lot of time looking off into space and trying to figure out what was going on. Naturally, I always seemed to end up staring at Mr. Hot TA. I thought of him as a little present that Jesus decided to give me for being forced to take physics.

After I spent twelve whole minutes walking out to my building and after finding out I had a girl proctor, I was a little put out. When I got my test booklet, I got even more depressed. I couldn't really do half the problems. Haha, I think I kept sighing and making sad noises out loud because the proctor kept looking at me with kind of a concerned, pitying look on her face. Oh well though. Now I guess I will need to go get some help. I can't start off the term getting F's...

On a lighter note, today I noticed something kind of cool about my Writing and Business teacher. She is basically like the funniest person ever. She has this weird patch of black hair on the underside of her chin/neck region, but oh well. She is still super cool. Today, I noticed that she was wearing a Frida Kahlo pendant. I myself am a Frida fan. I cannot deny Frida's awesomeness and I thought it was pretty cool that my teacher likes her as well.

Three People I Hadn't Seen in a Long Time.

Today was a very interesting day. I saw three people that I had not seen in a while.
The first was an old "friend" of mine, Spicy Jesus. The second was my old math TA, Brian Sherson and the third and final person I saw today was Joy, a "cleaning lady".

All three of these events were quite out of the ordinary. I actually really miss Spicy Jesus. I can't remember his real name, but I will tell the story of how I met him. One day in mid-February, my roommate at the time and I were making a cake to celebrate our joint birthday. We walked into our dorm's small communal kitchen and Spicy Jesus was in there waiting for us. In a cloud of horrifying, cough inducing habanero pepper smoke. I couldn't breathe because I was coughing so much. I had to exit the kitchen immediately. And that is where the "Spicy" comes from. We had seen him around our dorm and in the kitchen before, but never before had we experienced the full on spicy-ness. Oh yeah, and he always wore these green army cargo pants and this green jacket thing with boots. He also has long Jesus-like hair complete with a beard. That is where the "Jesus" comes from. I've never spoken to him before, but he was one of those people that you constantly see around. I kind of liked him; his presence was comforting in a way I guess you could say. But anyway, he was a senior last year and I thought I would never see him again. Haha, I was wrong! I saw him today.

Brian Sherson was my old Integral Calculus TA. And let's just say that he will never win World's Strongest Man or Mr. Universe. I felt kind of bad for him because he was quite unattractive. And sometimes he smelled kind of bad. But he was pretty nice. One time, he let me turn in a math assignment that was slightly late. I also thought I would never see him again after last year, but see him again I have. In the words of Master Yoda of course.

Joy is nice. She is the cleaning lady at my local dining center. The one just to the side of my dorm. When she cleans, she kind of hums to herself. I think she has downs syndrome. Today, I was coming home from Fred Meyer where I had recently purchased several items. She got on the bus and sat directly behind me where she proceeded to hum. I always feel kind of awkward when I hear this hum and today was no different I guess.

Well there you have it, my surprising day of seeing people. That's all for now.

It's Been a While...

So yeah. Wow. I have not done one of these in quite a long time. I had to actually re-log in to Blogger it has been so long. I was kind of little bit peeved about this actually. I had kind of forgotten my password. Haha, it took me like three tries to finally get it right. But anyways, I am back.

I guess I should talk about my classes, since I just started a whole new term.

First thing in the morning, I would just like to say that I have physics. At 8:oo. Go me. Although, I think we are going to learn about fluids and gases and stuff that I learned last year in general chemistry. Hopefully this term will go better than last year. My goal is a B- this time around. I plan on moving up.

Then, next I have archaeology. Thank you Jesus for archaeology. It really brightens up my day. I love it. Plus, there is this cute boy in it. The first two lectures, I didn't sit by him, but today I did. And he was even cuter close up. Haha, the chairs are really close in that class so that was even nicer if you know what I mean... I plan on talking to him next. But that said, I am looking forward to this class immensely. The first lecture, he talked about combining disciplines with archaeology and the one he used as an example was zoology. That is my major! So I took it as a sign from Jesus that archaeology might be in my future. Just maybe. I do like to dig stuff up. I am defnitely a fan.

After archaeology, I have statistics. I love my teacher. He is so cool. I feel like he would be a really nice person to be friends with. If I was older and a guy of course. I don't plan on getting too chummy with him. I love statistics as well. It seems really fun so far. And my TA is American and talks English. Which is quite helpful.

Then, after statistics, I have organic chemistry. My favorite! I love it so much. And I love my teacher. He is so cool as well. He is young and from Canada and a really good lecturer. One time I saw him walking with his wife pushing a baby carriage. It was so cute! And organic chem is awesome by the way. Everyone who hates it is stupid.

Finally ending my day, I have business writing. My teacher's name is Julie and she has a beard. She also is very cool. She's really funny and actually one of my favorite teachers. I don't really like business or writing, but oh well. I heard this class was kind of easy and I really didn't want to take public speaking. At all. This was basically my only option.

So there you have it. All of my classes. Minus labs and recitations of course. but I guess looking over what I have written so far, this term is actually not completely the worst term ever. I love all my classes and teachers except physics. I guess that is the only thing that brings this term down. But still, that is a substantial chunk of unpleasantness. Argh. That was me issuing a primal yell of hate against everything physics. I guess I'm actually basically looking forward to this term and I don't think it will be that bad at all, sans physics of course.

And, I'm doing this thing where I give my notes to disabled kids and get paid. I'm so excited. I'm doing it for two of my classes. My two most favorite actually... Archaeology and organic chemistry. I get paid like 34 dollars a credit hour, so I will get 238 dollars at the end of this term. Just for doing what I normally do - take amazingly excellent notes. I seriously take really god notes. Basically they're the best ever. If I do say so myself.

Oh yeah. And I bought a huge 35 pack of gum today. It was enormous.
